AGN INTERNATIONAL will celebrate its 13th World Congress from 25 to 28 September 2008.
The location chosen is Buenos Aires, in Argentina. This is the first time AGN delegates will travel to the Central & South America Region to attend an AGN congress.
This region is of specific relevance for members, as it is experiencing a rapid economic growth; this meeting will give attendees the chance to learn more about the economy, culture and development of Latin American countries, and specially Argentina.
The technical program covers topics about doing business in Argentina and Latin America as well as AGN internal related matters including the presentation of a new strategic plan for the organization.
The AGN Central & South America Region is comprised of 19 member firms, with 21 offices in 15 countries, stretching from Guatemala in the north to Argentina in the south. Member firms provide a full range of professional services to their clients.
This year, before the Congress starts, AGN is also organizing a one week Pre-Congress tour that will take AGN delegates and companions to the most exiting places in Brazil and Argentina. This is one of the actions that AGN is taking in order to promote internal communications between members, a vitally important aspect of increasing work between members.
The upcoming Congress will be the second chaired by Esther Tan, who was appointed as Chair of AGN during the last year’s World Congress which was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. AGN is delighted to have the first female chair ever appointed. She is a UK qualified Chartered Accountant and started her professional life in 1984. She is now a partner of GEP Associates, AGN’s members firm in Malaysia and this provides a full range of services to its numerous clients. Esther is member of several professional institutes such as the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Malaysian Institute of Public Accountants, and she is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and the Institute of Taxation. She has also been voted as Businesswoman of the Year in Malaysia.
Esther Tan, Chair of AGN INTERNATIONAL says: “World Congresses are excellent opportunities to meet fellow professionals from all over the globe, share experiences, have fun and, also, do business. The upcoming Congress, though, is going to be especially interesting due to its strategic location, and it will provide a focus of attention for many of our members willing to increase contacts in such a region, resulting in plenty of business opportunities and experiences”.
